‘I doff my hat for JAMB,’ says Osita Chidoka, blasts ethnic jingoists over Mmesoma result - Vanguard newspaper

A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka, has hailed the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result saga involving the board and a 19-year-old candidate of Enugu state origin, Mmesoma Joy Ejikeme.

Chidoka made this commendation in statement via his official social media handles on Wednesday.

The former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) however, blasted some Nigerians, who address the matter with ethnic sentiment.

Recall that Mmesoma had written her Computer-baded Test (CBT) at a CBT centre domiciled at a Foundation owned by the former Minister in Obosi, Anambra State.

After the release of the 2023 UTME results by JAMB some weeks ago, Mmesoma claimed to have scored 362 and paraded same as the highest score, a development that was celebrated and thereafter earned her a N3m scholarship from the founder of Innoson Motors, Chief Innocent Chukwuma.

But, on Sunday, July 2, 2023, JAMB issued a press statement putting a lie to Mmesoma’s claim of being the highest scorer in the 2023 UTME.

JAMB said the young girl actually scored 249 and not 362, a development that has caused outrage on the social media with some Nigerians castigating JAMB and others calling for investigation to get to the root of the matter.

Reacting to the matter, Chidoka praised JAMB for defending its integrity, asking other public institutions to learn and act like the examination body.

Chidoka stated, “Miss Nmesoma Ejikeme took her 2023 JAMB at my foundation’s Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Center at Obosi. I got some calls from worried friends about Nmesoma’s result, which had Thomas Chidoka Center as her examination center. I allayed their worries that the result issue had nothing to do with the examination center.

“I observed two significant red flags when I saw her result online. First, our center is no longer addressed as Thomas Chidoka Center for Human Development on the JAMB portal since 2021. The correct name on the JAMB portal and Main Examination Slip is Nkemefuna Foundation (Thomas Chidoka Center for Human Development).
