Japa: ‘many Nigerians In Forced Prostitution In Belgium’ - Crime - Nairaland The Belgian government has said Nigerians have the highest number of people in forced prostitution in the European country. Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Friday, Mr Freddy Roosemont, the Director-General of the Belgian Office for Foreigners, said most Nigerians were deceived into the country with the promise of job placements. He said most of them are however being forced into prostitution by traffickers once they arrived in the country. “The dream is not real, it’s not easy to survive in Europe without a decent job. The dream is fake. “Belgium is not land of milk and honey, nor is Europe. This was not the case before, but is even less so now, in a world with many crisis hotspots with severe economic consequences”, Roosemont said. He lamented that more Nigerians were currently seeking asylum in Belgium, adding that it makes little sense. “Asylum is determined on the basis of the Geneva Conven...

President Joe Biden said in a statement that the US military response “will continue at times and places of our choosing.” “The United States does not seek conflict in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world. But let all those who might seek to do us harm know this: If you harm an American, we will respond,” Biden said. The strikes on Friday ...

My Experience At LASU NIMC Center - Crime - Nairaland

Image
My Experience At LASU NIMC Center - Crime Nairaland I was trying to register for NYSC on the 29th of January, but I couldn't due to some issues with my middle name (NYSC recently made NIN compulsory for corpers). This means I have to go to a NIMC center to do a name correction. The next day, I went to the center at Ojo Local Government Secretariat in Lagos, but I met a crowd, and it was obvious I won't be able to meet the deadline for NYSC registration if I should join the queue. Hence, I went to the NIMC center at Lagos State University, only to meet another crowd. Then, I made the following discovery: 1. Nin is now compulsory for Jamb and Waec registrations. Hence, I saw several secondary school students who should be in class also hustling for Nin. 2. Both Lasu and Ojo centers have only one computer to attend to the huge crowd. It was heartbreaking seeing people suffer just to register into a government database. I know the government would have dispensed resources for sev...
