  NAFDAC commences serious move against alcohol in sachets, others The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, says it has begun to enforce the ban on alcoholic beverages in sachets, PET, and glass bottles of 200ml and below. Disclosing this was the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, who addressed a  press conference in Abuja, on Monday The NAFDAC boss said it was not acceptable that some manufacturers  still had stacks of alcoholic products in the  banned packages. She said: “This situation is of course not acceptable, and the agency views this as flagrant disobedience to the laws of Nigeria. NAFDAC views this matter seriously and will engage all statutory means, which may include prosecution, to deal with the matter. “I want to use this medium to ask all holders of alcohol in sachets, PET and glass bottles, empty sachets, PET bottles, empty glass bottles, and other packaging materials of these banned products to immediately report to the Investig

The schoolchildren attend the Apostolic Faith Group of Schools in Emure-Ekiti in Emure LGA. The pupils and their teachers were abducted while returning home in a school bus after school on the penultimate Monday. Five pupils and four teachers were kidnapped in the attack. Their abductors demanded N100 million. After several negotiations, the ransom was reduced to N15 million. One of the pupils’ parents, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said, “The kidnappers insisted on collecting N15 million on Saturday, and we rallied around the communities, including our people outside the country, to see the ransom. They even collected a cartoon of tin milk, black bullet, fried rice with chicken, soft and energy drinks and tramadol from us.

EFCC Recovers ₦‎37bn From Humanitarian Ministry’s Looted Funds Under Sadiya - Crime - Nairaland  The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has recovered over N30bn from the N37,170, 855,753.44 allegedly laundered in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs under the former minister, Sadiya Umar-Farouk. Sources in the anti-graft agency, who spoke with our correspondent on Friday, said the commission had also uncovered over N500m from the scam associated with Umar-Farouk’s successor, Betta Edu, who was recently suspended by President Bola Tinubu.   N750m Trader Money disbursement begins Feb – Commissioner. The Lagos State Government says the disbursement of the promised N750m Lagos Trader Money to 15,000 traders across the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas in the state will commence this month. The Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms Abisola Olusanya, stated this at the weekend while fielding questions during the Lagos Food Systems’ Champions Sensitisation for Market Women at the Mid-level Agro-Produce Hub in Idi-Oro, Mushin. The PUNCH reports that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the financial intervention during the unveiling of the Mid-level Agro-Produce Hub at Idi-Oro, in the Mushin area of the state in December 2023. The governor had said, “The government has come up with an intervention for all market men and women. The Market/Trader Money is for 15,000 beneficiaries as support. Each beneficiary will get N50,000 from the government. Each local government will submit 200 names.”
