  French Firm, Canal+ Group, Offers To Buy Multichoice For $1.69bn - Business  Nairaland Canal+ Group, a French TV channel, has offered to buy all the shares in South Africa’s MultiChoice for $1.69 billion. According to Reuters, Canal+, in a statement on Thursday, said it has already submitted a proposal to this effect. Canal+, a top shareholder in MultiChoice with a 31.67 percent stake, according to data on London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), said it would likely pay 105 rand in cash per share — a 40 percent premium to MultiChoice’s closing share price on Wednesday. The French firm said its offer, worth 31.7 billion rand ($1.69 billion), was non-binding and indicative.   Imploded Titanic Submarine Seen For First Time As Pieces Are Recovered - Travel - Nairaland Imploded Titanic submarine seen for first time as pieces recovered from sea floor The Titan’s wreckage was seen for the first time in pictures taken on Wednesday, more than a week after it imploded in the depths of the Atlantic Debris from the Titan was brought ashore by deep-sea robots on Wednesday as the US Coast Guard continues recovery operations following the sub’s catastrophic implosion. The Titan’s wreckage was seen for the first time in pictures after the Coast Guard announced on 22 June that ROVs (remotely-operated vehicles) found its chambers in a sea of debris 1,600ft from the bow of the Titanic, roughly 12,000ft below the ocean surface. Pelagic Research Services, the company that operated the ROV that made the previous debris findings, said on Wednesday that its team had successfully completed off-shore operations and was now in the process of demobilisation after 10 days of work.

  Outrage as teacher allegedly flogs Lagos pupil to death THE PUNCH NEWS ONLINE Pandemonium erupted at Araromi Ilogbo Secondary School in Oko Afo, Lagos, as pupils of the school protested the demise of one of their colleagues who was allegedly flogged to death by a teacher. The incident was said to have occurred on Thursday when the deceased, identified as David Babadipo, was allegedly flogged by the teacher whose name was given as Oluwale. It was gathered that the 16-year-old who had been ill for some days was rushed to a hospital after he was flogged where he was confirmed dead. In a video seen by our correspondent on Friday, many pupils of the school could be seen running helter-skelter within the school compound and outside its premises.
