There is a David de Gea situation in Manchester: The goalkeeper reacts on social media
The player is not impressed, according to marca.com
David de Gea appears to be fed up with the ongoing saga surrounding his potential contract renewal at Manchester United and the Spanish goalkeeper has now taken to social media to post a not-so-cryptic message.
The background to this is that a week ago the Red Devils announced on their official website that they intended to extend De Gea's contract, which is due to expire on June 28. However, subsequent reports suggested that the club had had a change of heart.
On Tuesday, The Athletic sensationally reported that, although De Gea had signed his new contract, the club had later decided to withdraw the offer.
Apparently, Manchester United did not sign the offer that the 32-year-old goalkeeper had already accepted.
The Spaniard had shown his willingness to commit to the cause by accepting a major salary cut, but The Daily Mail later reported that the club wanted to renegotiate and lower that figure again.
The story doing the rounds in the English press is that Erik ten Hag does want De Gea to stay, but on a reduced wage.
The way the club appear to have handled proceedings, however, is staggering, particularly for an institution of their stature.
