Super Eagles dedicate AFCON win against Angola to late Okwaraji



Nigeria’s Super Eagles have dedicated their 1-0 victory against the Palancas Negras of Angola in the quarterfinals of the ongoing African Cup of Nations to the memory of late Samuel Okwaraji.
Okwaraji, a Nigerian international, slumped and died while playing in a 1990 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Angola in Lagos.
In celebration of their victory against Angola at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, the team wrote on its X handle that the triumph was in memory of the late legend.
“Today’s victory over Angola is a poignant reminder of the adamant spirit of Nigerian football.

Ondo pastor jailed for stealing Presiding pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Ona Iwa-Mimo, Iwaro Oka Akoko in Ondo State, Friday Okeneji, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by an Akure Magistrate’s Court for stealing chemicals worth N130,000. Okeneji was said to have committed the offence on July 2, at Iwaro Oka Akoko. He pleaded guilty to the two count charges preferred against him. Okeneji said he committed the offence for survival, adding that he had to pay N150,000 for his mother’s  burial slated for August.  Presiding Magistrate, Damilola Sekoni, found Okeneji guilty and said that the prison term would run concurrently.
